DRUG ABUSE AWARENESS CAMPUS TOUR (DAACT) 2026

A National Youth Prevention & Recovery Advocacy Initiative
Powered by Spotlite Education & Youth Development Initiative (SEYDI)

Overview

The Drug Abuse Awareness Campus Tour (DAACT) 2026 is a nationwide preventive advocacy and intervention program designed to combat the rising incidence of substance abuse among students in tertiary institutions across Nigeria.
Substance abuse among students is a critical national challenge. According to the NDLEA reports, an estimated roughly 40–50% of undergraduate students are exposed to or involved in substance misuse, and in 2024 alone, over 2.6 million kilograms of illicit drugs were seized nationwide.

Many undergraduates encounter or engage in the misuse of cannabis, codeine-based substances, tramadol, and other drugs, leading to serious consequences such as academic decline, mental health challenges, campus violence, increased dropout rates, and long-term socio-economic damage. Early preventive intervention within universities is therefore essential not only to safeguard young Nigerians but also to strengthen national stability, protect human capital, and reduce future social and economic cost.
